Alberto Giacometti was the principal sculptor of the twentieth century, innovative beyond words. From the idea of ​​paying homage to him in Italy, this great exhibition was born thanks to the decisive collaboration of the Aimé Foundation and Marguerite Maeght of Saint-Paul-de-Vence, which lends over seventy works by the same Giacometti, from the most famous sculptures to the drawings. to the paintings.
After having told the fascination of his entire work in this way, the exhibition shines its light, with a choice of about twenty famous paintings, on the climate of painting in France at the same time, resorting to the collection of the Maeght Foundation itself , with works among others by Braque, Chagall, Miró, Kandinsky, Derain, Léger, included in the decades from the Twenties to the Fifties, that is precisely the time of Giacometti’s long stay in Paris. Paintings, often of large format, which enrich the rooms in which, in the center, Alberto Giacometti’s sculptures almost walk with pure beauty.
